Rapidly Developing Telecommunication |
|
The capital city of Zhengzhou is an important telecommunication hub in China. The three 1,800-line coaxial cables, namely the national first-grade Beijing-Wuhan-Guangzhou cable, Zhengzhou-Xi'an cable and Zhengzhou-Xuzhou cable, meet in Zhengzhou. With the completion of five 960-piece microwave lines, long distance transmission has been automated, and long distance lines digitized, and the program-controlled telephone exchange has been available in the whole province. High-tech services such as wireless searching, mobile telecommunication and internet have been improved rapidly. Program-controlled exchange, optical cable and digital telecommunication have become the mainstay of Henan's telecommunication net. There are 31.14 telephone sets for every 100 inhabitants now in Henan. The number of fixed phone subscribers ranks fifth in the country while those of mobile phone subscribers and Internet users respectively rank seventh and eleventh.
In the field of postal service, a complete network has already been established which links rural areas to urban areas and connects Henan with the whole country and the world over. The network has become a special transmission channel that embodies collection and distribution of information and materials as well as circulation of capitals and funds. |
